Labor shortages have become a critical issue across various industries due to the declining birthrate and aging population. As a solution, autonomous mobile robots are increasingly being utilized to improve efficiency and reduce manpower requirements. Their ability to perform wide-area monitoring autonomously makes them particularly promising, but stable long-range wireless communication is essential.
IEEE 802.11ah offers low-power, wide-area communication and is a strong candidate for such applications. However, increasing communication distances can lead to unstable connections and reduced throughput.
To address this, we propose a system in which an autonomous mobile robot measures throughput and RSSI in real time, and dynamically switches data transmission methods based on current network conditions. This approach enhances communication stability and enables reliable data transfer over wide areas. |
