Congestion control for transport protocols affects end to end communication quality.
Two congestion control algorithms (CCAs) have been mainstream in transport protocols: one is CUBIC, a standard feature in Windows OS and Linux OS, and the other is BBR, developed by Google.
Previous studies have reported that when these different CCAs compete, the performance of each communication flow becomes unfair depending on the environment of intermediate devices.
The different throughput of each communication for each buffer size is indicated the performance.
Therefore, in this study, we propose a method to identify the type of CCA in intermediate devices and perform different relay controls for each CCA using Programmable Data-Plane Network (PDPN).
This research aims to improve the overall communication performance of the network and the fairness among flows.
In addition, experiments using the network emulator Mininet verified the effectiveness of the proposed method.
The experiments showed that the proposed method can improve the fairness among each communication flow by storing each CCA in the dedicated buffer. |
