We investigate a method for estimating the location of impulsive magnetic noise sources using a simple measurement system, targeting electromagnetic emissions generated by digital circuits, switching power supplies, and electrostatic discharges. Our research group has previously examined two approaches: one utilizing two loop antenna probes mounted on a turntable, and the other employing two loop antenna probes mounted on a robotic arm. In this paper, we extend the latter approach by using three shielded loop antennas arranged orthogonally with respect to each other, mounted on a six-degree-of-freedom robotic arm, in order to reduce missed detections of impulsive noise and to estimate both the source position and orientation. First, calibration of the robotic arm's posture was performed using a laser rangefinder. Next, impulsive noise signals are to be measured simultaneously across three channels while varying the arm's posture. From the collected voltage ratios, the location and orientation of the magnetic dipole noise source will be estimated. |
