Decision tree-based factor analysis in the restaurant industry: the case of ramen restaurants in the Kanto region

(in English) In the food service industry, the continuous success of a restaurant relies heavily on acquiring and retaining repeat customers. This study aims to identify the factors contributing to repeat visit behavior, focusing on ramen restaurants in the Kanto region of Japan. Significant variables were extracted through data preprocessing, and the Mann-Whitney U test was used to examine differences between features. A decision tree analysis was then conducted to visualize the determinants of repeat visit intention. The results indicate that the perceived quality of the ramen is the most influential factor, followed by impressions of the staff and the ease of access to the restaurant. This study contributes to the development of scientifically grounded marketing strategies by visualizing the key factors influencing repeat visit intentions.
