The effect of ZrO2 addition on dental acrylic resin

(in English) Acrylic resin for dental use is widely employed in the fabrication of dentures and provisional restorations; however, it remains more brittle than natural teeth, posing a risk of fracture. In this study, ZrO2, known for its superior strength and wear resistance, was incorporated into the acrylic resin to investigate the effect of filler content on mechanical properties. The results showed that a 5wt% addition yielded optimal mechanical strength, while further increases in ZrO2 content tended to reduce strength. The reinforcement mechanism will be the subject of future investigation.
