This study investigated a non-contact detection method utilizing variations in electric field distribution to prevent
entrapment accidents during loading operations of garbage trucks. In the industrial waste management field, such accidents
have been reported, and conventional AI camera–based detection systems often suffer from sensing area limitation, leading
to reduced operational efficiency. The proposed method focused on the dielectric properties of the human body, using the
variation in electric field distribution and the change in received voltage that occur when a human approaches the garbage
trucks. Electromagnetic field analysis was performed based on the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method, with three-
-dimensional models of both the garbage truck and the human body. Visualization of the electric field distribution revealed that
the electric field is concentrated around the human body surface, indicating that the presence of the human body significantly
affects electromagnetic wave propagation. |
