Quantum computers have the potential to efficiently perform computations that are intractable for classical computers by exploiting principles of quantum mechanics. With recent advances in quantum computing hardware, practical quantum computation is becoming increasingly realistic. This talk begins with fundamental principles of quantum computing and explains basic concepts such as qubits, quantum gates, and quantum algorithms. Furthermore, I will provide an overview of current technical challenges in quantum computing and their solutions, as well as quantum machine learning, one of promising application areas. In particular, I will introduce specific methods such as variational quantum algorithms and quantum kernel methods, and discuss the potential quantum advantage over classical machine learning and prospects for practical applications. |
