The Relationship between Acceleration of Image Processing Program Based on LookUp Tables Algorithm and Coded Image Quality

(in English) With the practical application of multimedia generation AI such as Gemini and GPT-5 (ChatGPT, Chappy), it has become necessary to efficiently process and execute large volumes of commands generated by AI programs. Of course, accelerating graphics hardware using GPUs is also a key factor. However, if highly efficient program processing is not applied before sending instructions to the graphics hardware, it ultimately consumes significant power, imposes resource limitations, and impacts information systems. Therefore, especially in multimedia processing involving image data and other large datasets, program acceleration through improved programming content is essential. When performing computationally intensive tasks on a computer, it is considered efficient to precompute data that can be calculated in advance, store those values in an array (lookup table), and retrieve the desired data from the array instead of performing calculations each time. This reduces computational load and enables efficient processing. In this study, first we prepared multiple image processing programs. Subsequently, with the goal of accelerating these programs, we conducted verification experiments considering lookup table algorithms and architecture. We examined the effects of these algorithms and architecture from the perspectives of both program acceleration and coded image quality.
