Verifying the Effects of Combined First-Person and Second-Person Perspectives on Game Experience and Perspective Presentation Methods

(in English) This study focuses on the second-person perspective and aims to clarify the impact of combining first-person and second-person perspectives on player experience. Using a tag-style action game as the subject, we conducted a two-stage experiment involving perspective composition and perspective presentation methods in a scenario where the player, as the escapee, flees from enemy NPCs. Experiment 1 compared the effects of first-person, second-person, and combined first-person/second-person viewpoint configurations in both normal and horror environments on the gaming experience. The results confirmed that the combined first-person + second-person configuration contributed to improved tactical judgment and operability, while the horror environment tended to heighten tension. Experiment 2 compared different presentation methods for the second-person viewpoint, examining the impact of presentation frequency on experience evaluation. The results suggested that constant presentation enhances tactical judgment, while intermittent presentation may increase tension.
