Labor shortages have become increasingly serious in fields such as security and infrastructure inspection due to the declining birthrate and aging population. Consequently, autonomous mobile robots are attracting attention as a solution for efficient wide-area monitoring; however, dynamically changing wireless environments make stable real-time image transmission difficult.
To address this challenge, we propose a control algorithm for an autonomous mobile robot equipped with multiple wireless LANs operating at 920 MHz, 2.4 GHz, and 5 GHz. The proposed system dynamically switches communication links according to network conditions and adjusts the size of transmitted image data when communication becomes unstable. Through this approach, reliable communication is maintained while enabling stable real-time image acquisition over wide areas.As a result, all monitoring data were successfully transmitted over the maximum distance. |
