We have a big picture of realizing a real-time network monitoring system capable of estimating the current status of links in optical networks by leveraging telemetry data. As part of the project, by using time-series data about OSNR(Optical Signal-to-Noise Ratio) obtained in our optical network testbed, including multiple ROADMs (Reconfigurable Optical Add-Drop Multiplexers), we trained a single unsupervised machine learning model based on a Variational Auto-Encoder (VAE) method with data preprocessing that reshapes time-series data to a size of 64 x 64. We successfully confirmed that the created model could distinguish multiple datasets characterized by different conditions related to how to add intentional optical attenuation. This outcome is useful for our next step, in which we will try to execute more-advanced optical link state estimation with the expanded telemetry data types. |
