Toward developing color discrimination support independent of vision, we have previously worked to elucidate the cross-modal correspondence established between color and vibration. In this paper, we applied Gaussian process regression to the color–vibration map obtained from previous research and constructed a vibration presentation model that continuously controls frequency ($30–250 mathrm{, Hz}$) and amplitude ($0–100 mathrm{, %}$) according to color stimuli. To verify this model's effectiveness, we conducted a color discrimination experiment using a 2AFC task with 13 colors, including the basic 7 colors and 6 intermediate colors. The results showed an average accuracy of 77.6%, significantly exceeding chance performance, even under conditions with no prior learning. Furthermore, the learning curve showed a steep rise immediately after initiation, and the most frequent reaction time was less than 0.3 seconds. These results suggest that this model aligns with existing inter-sensory coordination and enables immediate, intuitive color discrimination with low learning costs. |
