Japan’s agriculture is facing a shortage of labor, and remotely operated robots are attracting attention as a solution. However, using low‑cost mass‑market networks causes large fluctuations in latency, which significantly affects remote operation. In this study, we monitor network latency and computing load in real time and analyze them as end‑to‑end (E2E) quality to ensure operability. We also propose a technique that dynamically adjusts user application behavior from the edge according to quality conditions. This paper reports the results of a demonstration experiment in which a harvesting robot was remotely operated for strawberry picking between Tokyo and Akita over commercial networks. |
