Analysis and application of diverse solutions under varying numbers of topics in topic modeling

(in English) Topic models are used to analyze document data and estimate useful
information (topics). Different initial values can lead to the
estimation of diverse solutions (topics). Furthermore, varying the
number of topics results in different estimated topics; fewer topics
yield more general ones, while more topics yield more specific ones. We
consider each interpretation meaningful and are conducting research to
organize and grasp the overall picture. We propose an analytical method
that comprehensively captures diverse solutions, including the
relationships between topics, focusing on those with high occurrence
probabilities. This report presents new analytical results, including
experiments to verify the assumptions underlying the analytical method,
a proposed method to determine whether the resulting representative word
distributions are general or detailed, and experiments to confirm this
method. It demonstrates the potential for application in constructing
topic hierarchies that accommodate diverse interpretations.
