Enhancing Children's Opinion Writing Through the Use of Generative AI

(in English) A workshop was conducted with six elementary school students (Grades 3–5) to support opinion‑writing using tablet devices. The lesson incorporated ClassCloud (Mikulak Inc.), a teaching‑support application equipped with generative AI. During the idea‑generation phase, students viewed their peers’ ideas through an SNS‑style interface, and during the writing phase, the generative AI helped each student deepen their reasoning and examples on their individual tablets. The children reported that both activities were helpful for their writing, and the AI‑based thinking support in particular appeared to function effectively as scaffolding for composition. Over the two‑day implementation, students’ resistance toward writing decreased, suggesting that they may have begun to internalize both peer perspectives and AI‑generated support during their writing process.
