Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Cognitive bias is an unavoidable phenomenon when humans perceive and make judgments about their environment, occasionally leading to irrational decisions and severe accidents. Although VR training systems aimed at reducing cognitive bias exist, they have conventionally been limited to uniform interventions that do not account for individual characteristics. Therefore, this paper proposes a VR training system that considers individual differences in cognitive bias. Targeting the teleoperation of heavy machinery, the system estimates the degree of an individual's confirmation bias from operation logs and dynamically switches the support methods and their intensities such as UI displays, video demonstrations, and direct operational interventions based on these results. Findings suggested that the interventions by the implemented system suppressed the deterioration in operation time and input frequency caused by cognitive bias, thereby improving task efficiency. However, it also revealed that forced corrections by the system increased subjective task load and reduced the users' sense of agency, providing crucial insights for intervention design regarding the balance between objective efficiency and the subjective sense of control.
