High-Rate Large-Girth Quantum LDPC Codes: Construction and Decoding Performance

In quantum LDPC codes, the CSS orthogonality constraint severely restricts the classical design principle that combines regularity, large girth, and good BP decoding performance. This manuscript presents a construction principle that enforces orthogonality only on the active part of the check matrices while intentionally keeping the latent part non-orthogonal, thereby avoiding latent low-weight logical operators induced by row removal. Using affine permutation matrices, we construct a girth-8, $(3,12)$-regular $llbracket 9216,4612,leq 48rrbracket$ quantum LDPC code. Under BP decoding with low-complexity post-processing, the constructed code achieves a frame error rate of $10^{-8}$ on the depolarizing channel at physical error probability $4%$. |
