Real-Time Surveillance Image Transmission Method for Autonomous Mobile Robots for Wide-Area Monitoring

As the declining birthrate and aging population progress, labor shortages in security and infrastructure inspection are becoming serious. Autonomous mobile robots are expected to support wide-area monitoring,but stable real-time image transmission is difficult because communication conditions change dynamically during movement.
This study proposes a control algorithm for an autonomous mobile robot equipped with 920 MHz, 2.4 GHz, and 5 GHz wireless LANs. The robot dynamically switches communication links according to communication environment and adjusts image data size when communication becomes unstable. This approach enables stable acquisition of monitoring images while maintaining real-time performance over a wide area despite changes in the communication environment. Experimental results on actual hardware confirmed surveillance image transmission at the maximum distance, demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposed method. |
