In recent years, vehicle-to-everything (V2X) has attracted attention as a key technology for supporting autonomous driving. In V2X systems, information regarding surrounding vehicles and traffic conditions is shared in real time among vehicles and roadside units, with relaying performed as needed. To realize such V2X systems, 5G new radio (NR) sidelink was specified in Release 16 of 5th generation mobile communication system (5G). In particular, Mode 2, in which terminals autonomously select communication resources, is expected to support a wide range of applications because it enables autonomous communication between vehicles. However, Mode 2 does not define a protocol for multi-hop or relay communication under link disruptions caused by mobility or other factors. In this paper, we propose a network construction method that maintains connectivity through relay communication even when links are disrupted due to terminal movement. Furthermore, to implement and evaluate the proposed method, we developed an autonomous V2X communication platform based on the open-source software 5G OAI (OpenAirInterface). Using the developed platform, we conducted emulations in the highway environment based on the 3GPP model and evaluated the transmission characteristics during network construction. |
