A Study on Image Segmentation using Latent Alignment

(in English) In this study, we investigate a prompt-free image segmentation method using Latent Alignment. The proposed method achieves segmentation without relying on text prompts by aligning structural latent representations of masks learned by a Mask VAE with image features obtained from a pre-trained multimodal model. In the experiments, a model trained on COCO was applied to multiple public datasets, and its transferability was evaluated under zero-shot and few-shot conditions. The results showed consistent transferability to natural image datasets, whereas performance degradation was observed on polyp segmentation datasets. Based on these results, we discuss the effectiveness and transferability of Latent Alignment.
