Physical devices such as food-serving robots, which have become widespread in recent years, commonly incorporate instance segmentation models. However, the robustness of these models against patch-based physical adversarial attacks has not been sufficiently investigated. In this study, we propose a method of adversarial patch attack targeting instance segmentation models. Since the appearance of a physically printed patch varies with shooting and lighting conditions, we apply a data augmentation technique called ``Expectation over Transformations'' that simulates these variations when optimizing the adversarial patch. This enhances the feasibility of the attack in the physical world. We evaluated the attack performance of the proposed method through simulation experiments. The experimental results show that overlaying a single patch optimized by the proposed method onto the person region of input images reduces the area under the detection rate curve (AUC) of the ``person'' class by the YOLOv8-seg model by approximately 0.21 on average, demonstrating that the proposed method can serve as an effective adversarial attack against instance segmentation models. |
