(事前公開アブストラクト) This study investigated the involvement of inhibition function during the garden-path recovery in sentence processing. We addressed this issue by examining whether the amount of garden-path effect measured in the self-paced reading task would correlate with the performance in the tasks that tap inhibition function (e.g., Stroop task) or the tasks that taps other cognitive functions (e.g., reading-span test). The correlation analyses revealed that only the performance in the Stroop task correlated with the amount of the garden-path effect. We argue that the inhibition function plays an important role immediately when a garden-path recovery becomes necessary. |
