Characteristic of Potassium niobate/Barium titanate composites Ryousuke Usui, Noriko Bamba (Shinshu Univ.) CPM2010-91 |

Potassium niobate (KN)/ barium titanate (BT) composites were fabricated
by normal sintering in order to improve water-resistance, sinterability
and piezoelectric properties of KN ceramics in this work. Consequently,
water-resistance and sinterability of KN/BT composites were improved
compared with KN monolith. These are considered that KN and BT form
solid solution with each other. However, since the density of the
composites was not sufficient, 2 another methods were attempted. One was
change of calcination temperature for synthesizing KN, and the other was
using K1.005 NbO3 (K1.005 N) as a matrix instead of KN. When the
temperature changed from 1000℃ to 800℃, the decrease of amount of
BT which formed a solid solution with KN and the density were confirmed.
In the case of using K1.005 N powder, sinterability improved, but the
density was still not enough. However, the possibility that the
characteristic of KN/BT ceramics could be controlled and improved by
preparation process was able to be shown. |
