| 抄録 | （和） | 日本の小学校算数教育において落ちこぼれる子が多い、繰り上がりのある足し算、繰り下がりのある足し算について、福岡県の教師たちが、『上の桁から計算してゆく』という方法を４年間実践してみて、一人の落ちこぼれも出さず、しかも生徒の所属学年の１年上の学年の課題までも積極的に出来るようにさせた。 発表者は、この驚くべき成功の原因は、『下からボトムアップ（ズームアウト）』で思考する西洋人と『上からトップダウン（ズームイン）』で思考する東洋人の精神構造の違いによるものと考える。 |
| （英） | Nowadays many elementary school students in Japan found the addition with carrying and the subtraction with borrowing encountered in school arithmetic very difficult to understand, and many of them fell behind. There is, however, a remarkable educational practice which has been implemented for the recent 4 years by the teachers of Fukuoka Prefecture. Their original approach to “calculate from the highest place” has kept all students on track. Furthermore, this calculation method has been proved to enable students to learn even higher-grade arithmetic than their own grades. The speaker thinks that this remarkable success arises from the difference of the bottom-up (zoom-out) type mental structure of Westerners and the top-down (zoom-in) type Japanese mental structure. |
