Influences of Crystal Structure and Orientation on Band Offsets at the CdS/Cu2ZnSnS4 Interface by First Principles Study

(in English) Cu2ZnSnS4 (CZTS) has attracted much attention recently as an absorber layer material in a heterojunction solar cell. Using the first-principles method, we calculated the band offset for the CdS/Cu2ZnSnS4 heterojunction. When Cu2ZnSnS4 is considered to crystallize in the kesterite structure, the valence band offset ΔEv=1.2 eV for the CdS(001)/Cu2ZnSnS4(001) supercell, and ΔEv=1.0 eV for the CdS(010)/Cu2ZnSnS4(010) supercell. When Cu2ZnSnS4 is considered to crystallize in stanite structure, ΔEv=1.1 eV for the CdS(001)/Cu2ZnSnS4(001) supercell.
