Non-destructive testing is an important technology to keep safety of our daily life. Magneto-optical imaging is a useful non-destructive testing method that can visualize defect two-dimensionally with high spatial resolution. By placing a magnetic garnet film as a sensor on a defect, a leakage magnetic field is detected via magneto-optical effect. However, in our previous study, a sensor was not able to deal with the curved surface of measuring objects, i.e. the testing was limited to the flat surface of that. Therefore, we developed a flexible magneto-optical sensor to enable non-destructive testing on curved surfaces. In this study, we deposited magnetic garnet particles on a flexible substrate. The particles corted on a plastic film using by spin-on process. Additionally, to control the chemical composition of the particls, the magnetic garnet particles were prepared using by the coprecipitation process. In this presentation, we will present experimental results of these fundamental study. |
