Fundamental Study on Communication-Radar Integrated System Using OFDM Signal and Mismatched Filter Reception

(in English) Recently, a communication-radar integrated system which can perform a wireless communications and a radar sensing at the same time has been studied. One of the systems is the system using an OFDM signal. Several studies have reported that the system can perform a radar sensing by using a matched filter (MF) reception. However, a radar range sidelobe with a matched filter reception is high. In this paper, we propose a mismatched filter (MMF) reception scheme to reduce the sidelobe level of the OFDM-based communication-radar integrated system. A fundamental study on the proposed system is done and simulations are conducted to verify the radar performance. The simulation results employing wireless specification of 5G show that the proposed system can achieve a peak-to-sidelobe ratio of around 45dB in range pulse and a resolution of 40cm.
