A Design of Clock Fall Time for 60 GHz-band S/H Circuit using Simple Circuit Model

(in English) The use of millimeter-wave bands such as the 60 GHz band has been attracting attention for broadband and large-capacity communications. We have developed a sample-and-hold (S/H) IC for Direct RF undersampling receiver in the 60 GHz band. Since Direct RF undersampling receiver samples RF signals directly, the fall time to transition from the sample state to the hold state affects the hold output voltage. When the operating frequency is increased to millimeter-wave band such as 60 GHz band, the effect of the clock fall time characteristic cannot be ignored even pico second order because it is nearly equal to the period of the input signal. In this report, we analyzed clock falling time versus hold output signal amplitude degradation characteristics using a simple S/H circuit model consists of a variable conductance and hold capacitor. The numerical analysis result is good agree with the actual circuit simulation result of the designed 60 GHz-band S/H circuit.
