To accommodate a large number of users efficiently, grant-free non-orthogonal multiple access (GF-NOMA) has gained much attention. Although it can support many users while reducing transmission delay significantly thanks to grant-free transmission, the base station has to perform active user detection and channel estimation to recover the transmitted data. Moreover, a scheme to perform them without any prior information is desired since the base station cannot know the activity ratio and all users' large-scale fading coefficients in advance due to the nature of grant-free transmission. In this paper, we propose a multiple measurement vector approximate message passing that does not require any side information. Throughout computer simulations, we demonstrate that the proposed scheme can estimate the channels with comparable accuracy as the conventional one and accurately perform active user detection. |
