In this study, an asymmetric single-electron transistor was fabricated by dielectrophoresis placing of gold nanoparticles with two different diameters (15 nm and 50 nm) into the nanogap between the drain and source electrodes. The gold electrode surface was modified with a monolayer of decanedithiol as an insulating film that works as a tunnel barrier. The electrical characteristics were measured in liquid helium (4.2 K) and liquid nitrogen (77 K), and the operation as a single-electron device was confirmed. In addition, RF-induced DC current generated by the application of an alternating voltage were observed in liquid helium. |
