Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In recent years, due to the increasing number of elderly individuals living alone in Japan, research has been conducted on communication using dialogue robots to provide opportunities for interaction in lieu of human companionship. In this study, we propose a method using a large language model (LLM) to semi-automate tasks performed manually for the purpose of streamlining a multi-user dialogue system (multi-party dialogue system) where multiple users engage in conversations with a virtual robot through text chat, employing the Wizard of Oz (WoZ) method for improving the quality of life (QoL) of the elderly. The manual tasks involve categorizing responses to dialogue and recording dialogue content. To ensure that inappropriate content is not generated by the LLM, human verification is conducted for the generated responses. Through a six-month social experiment involving 121 participants, the proposed method not only achieved a reduction of approximately 25% in manual work time while maintaining the quality of dialogue but also recorded about 500 pieces of daily activity information and profiles. Additionally, around 60 individuals were able to sustain regular conversations with the virtual robot, as evidenced by their responses to periodic collective inquiries.
