Comparison of the Efficacy between Peer Feedback and L1 Speaker Feedback on English Speech Task

(in English) This study compared feedback (FB) as in peer FB and L1 speaker FB on speech tasks. Specifically, it examined which aspects of language each type of feedback targeted and their respective effects on learners. Twelve participants were divided equally into a peer FB group and an L1 speaker FB group, and took part in a four-day experiment. As a result, the peer FB focused more on participant’s errors in meaning, whereas the L1 speaker FB focused more participant’s errors in form. Additionally, during self-refinement following the FB sessions, the peer FB group engaged more in meaning-focused revisions, while the L1 speaker FB group engaged more in form-focused revisions.
