The string-context mutual segmentation hypothesis posits that language emerges through repeated mutual segmentation of both contexts and sound sequences. This paper focuses on the correspondence between words composed of sound sequences and segmented contexts within this hypothesis. First, treating strings as sound sequences, we develop a model of two agents that generate words by combining characters and associate these words with categories obtained by clustering observations. We then extend the Sample Importance Resampling (SIR) naming game from previous studies and formalize inference in which each agent, based on the sending and receiving of strings, performs reasoning without referencing the other agent's latent variables. In the experiments, we simulated language emergence using image features as observations. As a result, we confirmed that words composed of character strings emerged between the agents and that the correspondences between words and categories were shared. |
