Simultaneous control of In-plane Orientation and Chirality of Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes by Cold-Wall Chemical Vapor Deposition Method

(in English) The purpose of this study is synthesis of in-plane aligned and chirality controlled single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) for nano electronic devices. As a first step, in-plane aligned SWNTs is addressed to synthesize on r-cut Al2O3 substrate, and chirality control of the SWNTs is undertaken by free electron laser (FEL) irradiation during growth on SiO2/Si substrate. On r-cut Al2O3 substrate without FEL, the Raman spectrum shows growth of mixture metal and semiconducting SWNTs, and the surface image demonstrates that the aligned SWNTs are observed along the [-111] direction, although the length of the SWNTs is approximately 500 nm. On SiO2/Si substrate, grown SWNTs with 800nm-FEL irradiation is only semiconducting with fourth kinds of chilarity, demonstrated by the Raman spectra with multi excitation lasers.
